TodayMamas.com And GameStop Contest
With a houseful of boys, who could pass this up?!?
Mama’s Holiday Wish List Meme
TodaysMama (link to: http://bit.ly/tmwishlist) and GameStop (link to: http://bit.ly/gamestop10) are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.
1. What is your holiday wish for your family? That we have a year full of happiness, truly enjoying each other and making the most of our time together.
2. What is your Christmas morning / Hanukkah Nightly tradition? Christmas Eve everyone gets one gift to open and it's pajamas. We all wear our new pajamas to bed for Christmas Morning. Christmas Morning my mother comes over to open gifts with the kiddos. (My dad and brother used to come as well, but both have passed away in the last 2 years).
3. If you could ask Santa for one, completely decadent wish for yourself, what would it be?
A month-long trip to the beach to relax and to get rid of some stress!
4. How do you make the holidays special without spending any money?
Baking. Love to bake during the holidays and it's an inexpensive way to share the joy.
5. What games did you play with your family growing up?
The traditional kid games - Trouble, Monopoly, Life, Battleship.
6. What holiday tradition have you carried on from your own childhood?
Going to church Christmas Eve at the church I grew up in. That has always been a very important part of my life.
7. Where would you go for a Christmas/Hanukkah-away-from-home trip?
I'd love to go somewhere warm once - and experience the holidays in shorts and short sleeves! Perhaps Hawaii or Australia
8. Check out GameStop (link to: http://bit.ly/gamestop10) and tell us, what are the three top items on your GameStop Wish List this year?
1. XBox 360 with Kinect
2. EA Sports Active and/or Active 2 for Wii
3. New Wii Remotes with Nunchuks

New Layout
Apparently, my old layout was deleted. So, I set up a new one, thanks to thecutestblogontheblock.com. I love the beach, and I always miss the beach when I'm not there, so how appropriate. :)
I do need to figure out how to center the title picture.

Melancholy...
Wish I had some sort of catchy title for today, but really, I don't.
Today has been hard. I wish I understood all the finer points of grieving and moving on and etc, etc, etc, but I don't. Just when I think I'm doing better - BAM - I get hit with another wave.
And today was to be a happy day.
Today was the school Mass where they recognize all the First Communicants at the school. It's a big deal - the 2nd graders are all in their First Communion finest, and they get to parade in, and do all the important stuff at Mass. It's always so sweet to see all these kiddos all dressed up and behaving their upmost.
First Communion is the one catholic sacrament that gets me. Every. Year. It doesn't matter whether I have a child doing First Communion or not - when the kids walk out in their dresses and suits, I boo-hoo. Some years more than others.
I'm emotional like that.
Of course this year, I've got added emotional baggage in there. 1 - B's my last one to do First Communion. 2 - My brother was his Godfather. 3 - My brother's been gone 6 weeks Friday and it seems like a lifetime and it seems like yesterday all rolled into one.
Anyway, I'm a basketcase today. Crying at the drop of a hat and unable to concentrate. And the weather is cloudy and drizzly. Again. I need the sun to shine. I need it badly.
Anyway, it's a melancholy sort of day...

Weekend in Review..
Our weekend was busy, but not horribly so for once! Yippee!!
We squeezed in a quick birthday party with a couple of B's friends - he turned 9 last month, and we were woefully behind in doing anything for his birthday. But we took him and two buds (and my other three) to a gaming room where they have Wiis and PS3's and XBox360s all set up and projected onto walls. They get to sit in big theater-style chairs and play until their hearts content. They loved it. We then packed them up and went to the Dairy Queen a block down the road and had lunch and ice cream cake. Yum! B enjoyed himself, even if he was disappointed that only 2 could show up (we only invited 4 to begin with - due to transporting to DQ - it's across a really busy street, so no walking).
We also had baseball (lost), and Mass. Hubby and I went to dinner and to a wine bar by the house. It was nice to just get out with just the two of us.
Friday night, my cousin and I went out and painted "bad" pottery. Neither one of us is very artistic, so we call our nights out "Painting Bad Pottery" Nights. We go to a place called "Paintbrush Pottery" and we make an item or two, and then we go eat afterwards. We went to a wine bar as well (one that serves food) - this one's partially owned by a friend of mine. We had a great time, eating and splitting a bottle of wine.
Sunday, we went to the Spring Concert for bands. J, M, and N were all involved. It was about an hour and ten minutes, and the groups did really well. N is in beginning band, M is in Winter Drumline, and J is in the Saxophone Ensemble and Jazz Band. A good time was had by all.
I also went to a viewing for the mother of a couple of my friends (one of the gals is the one that is part owner of the wine bar). Their mother died last Wednesday - she had leukemia and lymphoma and had been given a couple of months. She lasted 10 days. Two months ago, my friends lost their sister (about a month before I lost my brother). So, yeah. Their family has had it equally (if not more) bad as we've had.
And that last statement made little sense.
I hope everyone has a great week. :) *hugs*
